On August 1st, 2023 Bellevue Police Foundation hosted its second very successful annual golf tournament to benefit the Bellevue Police Department. Over $55,000 was raised to support advanced training, community outreach and recruiting efforts as well as the beloved K9 program and innovative field equipment needs.

This year’s exciting tournament was oversold with 148 golfers who drove, pitched and putted their way through the challenging course at the Golf Club at Newcastle before a delicious awards banquet on the Prestwick Terrace. Fabulous raffle prizes included a 2-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue combined with a generous dinner certificate at the lovely Ascend restaurant. Bon Vivant Tours donated a private wine country tour through Woodinville combined with several tastings. Other raffle gifts included certificates for Oki Golf, a PXG driver, and a tasting experience at Woodinville Whiskey.

At last year’s tournament, the Foundation announced a new, annual scholarship for rising female leaders within the department. This year, two outstanding female officers were awarded $1,000 each for leadership training, Officer Rachel Serna and Detective Stephanie Fritsch. The Foundation congratulates them both and looks forward to their continued service to our city. Last year’s recipient was Officer Ashley Peterson.

The Bellevue Police Foundation was created in 2007 by a group of citizens who believed that Bellevue deserves the best officers with the best tools to fight and solve crimes. Their mission is to foster community support to fund equipment purchases, training, and public recognition for officers whose dedication and personal sacrifice ensures the safety and security of our community. In its 16-year history, with support from the community, the Foundation has granted over $1,400,000 to the Bellevue Police Department. Among other items, grants have funded 100% of the K9 program, many field equipment purchases and almost $200,000 in forensics technology.
