Cinda Anderson: Charting a Course in Life and Optometry in Barrington

Dr. Cinda Anderson’s journey to Barrington is as multifaceted as her life’s passions. Growing up on a farm in the Midwest, surrounded by animals and the great outdoors, Cinda developed an early love for science and medicine. Influenced by a close family friend who was an ophthalmologist, she pursued a degree in Biology at the University of Illinois and later attended optometry school at PCO in Philadelphia, graduating in 1997.

“I was always fascinated by the intricacies of eye care,” Cinda shares. “There weren’t any other eye doctors in my family, but we had other medical professionals. My twin sister is a respiratory therapist, and we were always encouraged to pursue our educational goals.”

Cinda’s professional journey included various corporate roles at Target Optical and Sears Optical. However, her heart was always set on private practice. “Juggling three offices while raising young children was challenging, but the experience was invaluable,” she recalls. In 2003 Cinda opened her Barrington office, where she now provides personalized care just minutes from her home.

At Barrington Eye Center, Cinda emphasizes one-on-one patient interactions and comprehensive care. “We’re not about rushing patients in and out. Each person receives the attention they deserve,” she explains. The center offers a range of services, from routine eye exams to treating medical conditions, selling and repairing glasses, providing specialized treatments, and offering contact lenses. Additionally, the office provides comanagement with LASIK and PRK refractive surgery and cataract surgery.

Cinda’s commitment to her patients extends beyond the office. She is involved in the local community, supporting initiatives like the Welcome Wagon, which helps new residents settle into Barrington. She also participates in local events and races with her 33-foot sailboat, a pastime that underscores her love for the ocean and sailing.

“Sailing is a huge part of my life,” says Cinda. “We race on Wednesday nights in Bristol and spend weekends on the water. It’s a family affair, though not everyone shares my passion for it as much as I do.” Her love for the sea is complemented by her enthusiasm for travel. “We frequently visit Puerto Rico, especially in the winter, and my grandson Hunter has already become quite the traveler.”

Cinda’s family plays a central role in her life. She, her three children—Raleigh, 15, Sarah, 22, and Jack, 25—and her 19-month-old grandson, Hunter, create a close-knit and lively household. “Having my children and grandson nearby is wonderful. Hunter is a bundle of energy, always into everything. It’s a joy to watch him grow and explore,” she beams.

When not at the Eye Center or sailing, Cinda enjoys gardening, has a self-proclaimed “car fetish,” and loves cooking. She is particularly fond of culinary icons Julia Child and Martha Stewart. Her playful side is evident in her office decor, where a skeleton named David is dressed according to the season, currently sporting Fourth of July gear.

Looking ahead, Cinda is excited about the future of Barrington Eye Center. She aims to continue providing top-notch care while introducing new services and technologies. “Our goal is to remain at the forefront of eye care, ensuring our patients receive the best possible treatment,” she states.

For those interested in learning more or scheduling an appointment, Cinda invites residents to visit Barrington Eye Center. “We love being a part of this community and are always here to help with your eye care needs,” she concludes with a warm smile.

Dr. Cinda Anderson’s story is one of dedication, community involvement, and a love for both her profession and her passions. Barrington is fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring optometrist in its midst.
