Dad Stuff

Dad Stuff

There are few things more comforting than the sound of a dad clearing his throat before giving you advice you didn’t ask for but probably needed.

Dads come in all shapes and sizes—biological, bonus, beardy, bald, the quiet ones, the goofy ones, the “text me when you get there” ones. And while their styles may vary, their love shows up in such specific, dad-like ways:

The oil gets changed.
 The scary spider gets handled.
Your lawn mysteriously gets mowed while you’re at work.

It’s magic. Or maybe just Dad stuff.

Some dads say “I love you” with a hug. Some say it by checking your tire pressure or making sure your porch light stays on. Some say it with dad jokes—those groan-worthy, eye-roll-inducing puns that somehow always manage to stick with you.

And on this one day, we get to say it back a little louder:
Thank you. For all the stuff we saw, and all the stuff we didn’t.

Happy Father’s Day to the fixers, the cheerleaders, the steady shoulders, and the sandwich makers. We love you more than you’ll ever know—though we’ll still probably show it by pretending not to cry during the Father’s Day BBQ.

June Shines

In the month on June
When the flowers festoon

Between the trees and the shrubbery lines,

Take a deep breath
And inhale the depth
Of this month that brings so many shines!

We honor the dads
And celebrate grads
And stand up for our glorious flag,

We welcome the sun
As it brings back the fun
And pulls summer from out of its bag!
