Battle Ground Little League’s Majors All-Star Softball

Earning noteworthy victory through hard work and faithful mentorship

During all stars they were behind 5-0 and came back in the last two innings to win against a tough team!

A glimpse into the Battle Ground Little League (BGLL) softball universe will show you a microcosm of the incredible local youth sports community, from T-ball to high school.

One such example is the girls’ Majors All-Stars team, comprised of young athletes ages 9-12, who pulled off an exceptional feat: as the youngest tournament team, they placed second in the District 6 Championships this past June! Led by head coach and BGHS softball alum Nichole Stewart, these athletes are set up for success, but willing to earn it with their admirable work ethic.

Nichole notes that all the girls work hard during the regular season to practice the fundamentals that will earn them a spot on the post-season All-Stars team reserved for the best of the best. Their victorious season is a tale of teamwork, bonding, and mentoring by not only their coaches, but also some BGHS softball players.

“All our players shined this season,” adds Nichole. “The standout players are Hayden Turner, Hadley Calcagno, Kendell Freimuth, Molly Cobb, Brystol Stewart and Kate Frahler.”

The village it takes (that BG has)
Several girls cited their team bond and positive attitude as factors in their success. What stood out in our conversation was how well-integrated the softball program has been in developing players throughout their careers.

One example is the high school softball players, such as Seyah Lindersmith, mentoring the younger girls and helping with softball clinics that teach core skills. Another is the high school coaches allowing little leaguers to watch their practices. Those young girls will likely play high school ball, so exposing them early is key.

The rise of softball
Nichole notes with pleasure that the Little League softball program has been getting more attention and spectators in the last few years as people have noticed how competitively they play.

BGLL has fall teams available, which run through October. For new and returning players, spring ball registrations open in November—in time for holiday gifts.

It is inspiring to see these young athletes give it their all. Your community is rooting for you as you set an example for others and continue accomplishing great things!
