Beau Boughter
Bishop Guertin's fearless keeper excels between the posts and in the community
From the moment the whistle blew on his freshman season, Beau Boughter belonged between the posts. Not many high school freshmen can say they started at goalkeeper for a Division 1 High School varsity program, but Beau did, and he did it with the kind of fearlessness and poise that makes fans hold their breath and leaves opponents wishing they hadn’t taken that shot. Over his high school career, he made 68 starts in goal and recorded 20 shutouts.
For four years at Bishop Guertin High School, Beau was the last line of defense. He became known for Superman-like saves that sent the crowd to its feet and sometimes left teammates shaking their heads in disbelief: How did he stop that one? Yet the highlight reel tells only part of the story. His senior year culminated with Bishop Guertin lifting the New Hampshire Division 1 state championship, a team accomplishment that crowned Beau’s steady presence and leadership in goal. That season also brought individual recognition: Beau was named to the 2025 All-New England soccer selections, the NHIAA 2025 Boys Soccer All-State First Team, and the NHSCA 2025 All-Tournament Team.
The path to the championship included a particularly memorable semifinal, where Beau found himself defending the goal against his younger brother Jake’s team. While Beau’s experience secured the win, the matchup highlighted a bright future for the family; despite being only a sophomore, Jake is already showing the same competitive spark and talent, poised to have a similarly impressive high school athletic career of his own.
Adding to his accolades, Beau was recently named the Nashua Telegraph Player of the Year, a distinction earned through a historic post-season run where, as the Telegraph noted, “he was unscored upon in regulation and overtime field of play throughout the Division 1 tournament.” His play has drawn attention beyond Bishop Guertin: Beau was selected to play on the 2026 New Hampshire Boys All-Star Lions Twin State Soccer Cup team, further recognition of his impact between the posts and his reputation across the region.
Though soccer has been his main priority, Beau has also been an integral part of the Varsity Track Team for the last three years. Competing at the State level in the 4x400 relay and the Javelin, he demonstrates hard work both off and on the field.
If Beau’s athletic feats draw attention, his character keeps it. He is humble, kind, and calm, the kind of young man whose integrity and quiet confidence set the tone for a locker room. He served as team captain for three years, celebrated others’ successes as loudly as his own, and became a natural leader and role model both on and off the field.
Beau’s path hasn’t been easy. At age three, he suffered an unimaginable loss when his father died in a tragic accident. Later, in school, he faced another challenge: dyslexia. Rather than letting those hardships define him, Beau used them as fuel. He learned strategies to manage his learning differences, returned to the classroom with grit, and translated that same persistence to the field. Coaches point to his work ethic and “never give up” attitude as the real secret behind his success, not just talent, but relentless effort, humility, and resilience.
This resilience is perhaps most evident in his commitment to giving back. Each year since his father's passing, Beau has honored his memory by collecting gifts from the community and delivering them to children in need. What began when he was just a young child himself has grown into a lasting tradition of compassion, proving that some of his greatest “saves” happen off the field - where he works to ensure children feel supported, valued, and remembered.
Next fall, Beau will take the next step in his journey: college, where he plans to major in education. It’s a choice that fits him perfectly. Children and young athletes need teachers and mentors who not only know how to coach a skill, but who model courage, compassion, and perseverance. With his background overcoming personal tragedy and learning challenges while rising to the top as an athlete, Beau is poised to become exactly that kind of role model.
Beau Boughter’s story is a vivid reminder that excellence is about more than spectacular saves and championships. It’s about the character behind the uniform: the kindness, integrity, and determination that shape who a person becomes. For Bishop Guertin, and for the students he will teach one day, that may be his most lasting legacy. Keep an eye on Beau: on the field, he soars like Superman, and off it, he lifts others in ways that matter even more.
