With graduation rapidly approaching, it is only natural for us seniors to reminisce about our long ride at Bedford High, and specifically our time in the Student Council. When it came time to reflect on what our council had accomplished, after a little talking and some nervous brainstorming, we came up with some of our headline accomplishments. Recently, we have revived homecoming with a new semi-formal style, as well as improvements to the pep rally on the day prior. On a larger scale, our council worked hard alongside the community senate to bring a faster, safer way to enter the building with the introduction of a keycard scanner.

However, since we are a senior student council, we have mostly focused on just our class. We began the year with a senior sunrise to bring our class together, and are finishing the year strong by hosting events such as senior week, as well as handing out pink and purple cords to our graduating seniors in order to honor our classmates who are unable to graduate with us in June. We have worked tirelessly to foster a learning environment that all students find welcoming and comforting enough to share their thoughts with the council to encourage self-improvement.

However, none of this could be possible without the support of our various advisors and their ability to step into leadership roles. Our current advisor, Mary McCarthy, has done an amazing job stepping in flawlessly mid-way through our Senior year as our sole advisor, but we also owe thanks to Jen Wylie and Kathleen Kirby. Bedford High School is a place where we are taught to grow in our own unique ways, no matter the circumstances or challenges we may face. The lessons we’ve learned and the friends we’ve made are those we will treasure as we face our next journey of life head-on. We seniors have rolled with the punches and faced challenges head-on, preparing us all for life after Bedford High School.
