When my husband Brandon and I moved back to Southern New Hampshire in 2020, we knew we wanted to engage in a project that would support other business owners, especially female entrepreneurs. The pieces started to fall into place thanks to my friend Jacqueline Bailey, a Boston-based cosmetologist. During the early days of the pandemic, she routinely made house calls to help our entire household with haircuts, including my parents and our two daughters. During one of those visits, she announced that she was leaving her commission-based salon of 10 years to operate her own business out of a salon suite. As she described this opportunity, my excitement for the concept grew - first for her as my friend, and second for the possibility that this could be a much-needed model for our local community.
Shortly thereafter, we engaged in the discovery process with MY SALON Suite®, a salon suite franchise currently operating over 250 locations and supporting 7,000 beauty professionals nationwide. The salon suite industry is well-established in many parts of the country, and now beginning to truly take hold in New England. Finding the ideal location was easy when we discovered a 6,200 square foot space available within the Shoppes at Bedford Mall plaza at 79 South River Road. We began construction in September 2022 and are thrilled to open our doors to kick off the new year. MY SALON Suite® Bedford has 36 turn-key suites available for lease, all of which include utilities, WIFI, on-site laundry, and 24/7 secured access. Members can reserve an entire space for themselves or even share a suite in order to accommodate all budgets and schedules.
Operating out of a salon suite is a distinctly different experience from working as a commission-based employee, renting a booth, or independently owning a salon. A suite is a fully-enclosed, intimate setting with four walls and its own door. Members and clients appreciate having one-on-one personal interactions within the space. Members have the freedom and flexibility to dictate their own schedules, use and sell the products they enjoy most, and customize the physical space to complement their brand.
