Conde Roofing & Construction
Built on Trust, Rooted in Community.
Conde Roofing & Construction brings integrity and craftsmanship to every home in the region.
At Conde Roofing & Construction, the work is never really about roofs. At least, that's how owner Mel Conde sees it. "We don't serve roofs, or siding, or skylights, or gutters — we serve people," he says, "and those services are simply the medium we use to do so." It's a philosophy that has shaped the company from its earliest days and continues to define every hire, every project, and every conversation with a customer.
When Mel envisioned his ideal company, there were certain values he simply wasn't willing to bend on. Those values: integrity, honesty, customer focus, teamwork, and sustainability, aren't just framed words on a wall. They show up in the daily decisions his team makes, and they reflect a mission Conde Roofing takes seriously: to create an everlasting culture of professional and personal success for the entire team, while providing honest, trustworthy, quality service to every customer.
Next winter's most important advice: put down the rake.
When asked what professional advice they'd share with area residents, the team at Conde didn't hesitate: stop roof raking. This past winter brought more ice dams than most can remember, and the instinct to rake snow off the roof's edge, while well-meaning, almost always makes things worse.
Here's the issue: as snowmelt travels down your roof and hits open air at the eave, it refreezes, forming an ice dam. That's a manageable risk when the dam forms at the roof's edge, because reputable contractors install a layer of Ice and Water Barrier at the base of all pitched roofs in New England — it's specifically designed to prevent leaks even when water backs up. But when you rake snow off the lower three to six feet of your roof, you move that vulnerable "refreeze zone" higher up the slope, above the protective underlayment. A problem that might have been contained becomes far more likely to cause a leak.
Add to that the scrapes, gouges, and shingle damage that rakes and ice chisels can cause when used without precision, and the calculus becomes clear. The Conde team's guidance: if you're not concerned about snow load, and you know you have that underlayment, no action is the best action. If snow does need to be removed for structural reasons, have it all removed, not just the bottom edge.
A company that shows up beyond the job site
Community involvement isn't an afterthought at Conde Roofing; it's one of the most meaningful parts of running the business. The team looks forward to the Merrimack Winter Carnival each year, where they get to connect with neighbors not as contractors pitching services, but simply as fellow residents sharing in a community tradition and sparking creativity in local kids.
Beyond that, Conde Roofing is proud to support the Animal Rescue League of NH, the Merrimack Police Department Local 12, local school charity events and sports teams, the Derry Trail Riders, Boston Children's Hospital, and the Special Olympics of NH; causes that reflect both employee initiative and a genuine investment in the communities the company calls home.
The team at Conde Roofing extends heartfelt thanks to Greet Bedford and the Bedford community. The readers, neighbors, and customers who have made the company's growth possible, and who make this region such a special place to live and work.
