Celebrating Bedford's Newest Residents
Everly. May 2024
New Hampshire might rank 46th in the nation for fertility rates, but that hasn’t stopped us from embracing new life with joy. In fact, from 2020 to 2021, New Hampshire led the nation with a 7% increase in births—proof that even in challenging times, families found reasons to grow.
Even with these uplifting moments, the numbers reveal challenges. Hillsborough County’s birth rate has dropped 16% since 2000, with Bedford ranking among the lowest in the county, according to the Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission. Statewide, the March of Dimes reported 11,936 babies born in 2023—a reminder of the importance of cherishing each new addition to our communities.
When it comes to names, Charlotte and Olivia topped the charts for baby girls, while Oliver and Theodore were the favorites for boys. As trends evolve, they reflect the timeless and cherished choices of parents across the Granite State.
This year, we celebrate the babies of 2024—their tiny beginnings and the promise they hold for the future.
