Teagan O'Donnell

Bedford's Field Hockey Star Caps Historic Senior Season with State Championship.

When Teagan O'Donnell first picked up a field hockey stick in 8th grade, following in her sister's footsteps, she couldn't have imagined the heights she would reach. Now, as a graduating senior from Bedford High School, Teagan has cemented her legacy as one of New Hampshire's most decorated field hockey players.

A Season for the Record Books
Teagan's 2025 senior campaign was nothing short of extraordinary. As team captain, she led the Bedford Bulldogs to their first-ever state championship, scoring 36 goals and adding 19 assists in just 16 games. Her offensive prowess earned her recognition from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as National High School Offensive Player of the Month for both September and October, a rare double honor that speaks to her consistent excellence.

"Winning the state championship" stands out as Teagan's favorite sporting moment, and rightfully so. In the Division I final against Keene, she contributed a goal and an assist in the Bulldogs' thrilling 2-1 victory, bringing home Bedford's first championship trophy.

 A Trophy Case of Honors
The accolades tell the story of sustained excellence:
  • New Hampshire Division I Co-Offensive Player of the Year (2025)
  • First Team All-State Selection—an honor she's earned all four years of high school
  • NH All Player Team selection
  • The coveted Bulldog Award
When asked what accomplishment she's most proud of, Teagan points to being named Offensive Player of the Year for high school, though her four consecutive years of First Team All-State selection demonstrate a consistency that few athletes achieve.

 Beyond the Field
A lifelong Bedford resident who has attended Bedford schools throughout her education, Teagan is a multi-sport athlete who also plays lacrosse for Bedford and club field hockey for Seacoast. Her club team has taken her across the country, competing in Florida, Virginia, New Jersey, and beyond, exposing her to high-level competition and diverse playing styles.

What keeps Teagan passionate about the sport? "The friends I've made and the competitors we get to play," she explains. It's this love for the game and her teammates that has driven her success, along with the guidance of Coach Gaudreu, whom Teagan describes as "more than an impeccable coach, she's an amazing person."

 Looking Ahead
Teagan's field hockey journey is far from over. She'll continue her athletic and academic career at Stonehill College, where she'll compete in Division I field hockey. Her advice for younger athletes reflects the balanced perspective that has served her well: "You are more than an athlete, and do not make your sport so serious that it's not fun anymore."

As Teagan prepares to hang up her Bedford Bulldogs jersey and don the purple and white of Stonehill, the community celebrates not just an exceptional athlete but a young woman who has represented Bedford with grace, determination, and remarkable skill. Her legacy, capped by that state championship trophy, will inspire future generations of Bulldogs for years to come.
