Gusto Italiano Market
A Small Family Business
I was born in Milano, Italy, 46 years ago, and I spent most of my life there. My father was a dentist and my mother a hairdresser; I have two brothers older than I am who are continuing our father’s practice. I have a degree in foreign languages, French and Spanish, and during my years at the university, I lived for a while in Modena, where I could really appreciate for the first time the marvelous Italian cuisine and started experimenting with a lot of incredible recipes. After my degree, I met my future husband, Matteo, and together we started thinking about our dream of moving abroad. We were both working in big companies but were not really satisfied with our jobs and the difficult situation in Italy.
That’s why in 2015, we got our visas to move to the United States, and we opened our first business: a restaurant in Medford, MA, called Real Italian Gusto. We were both very excited to start this new venture together, in a new place, offering to the American people what we consider to be one of the best things you can find in Italy, our food! Our goal was to create a “real Italian food experience” because we are so proud of the infinite recipes that our country can offer and the amazing products and wines that our unique climate can create.
With the same concept in our mind, in 2021, we opened Gusto Italiano Market in Bedford. We brought a pizza oven from Naples and an Italian pizza chef so that residents here can taste real Neapolitan-style pizza. It is so satisfying to hear people saying that our pizza just reminds them of their trip to Italy. (That is what we wanted: to give everybody a small corner of Italy in the neighborhood.) In our market, you can find not only our gourmet pizza but also a lot of products coming from Italy, such as pasta, cookies, tomato sauce, cold cuts, cheeses, and gelato, not to mention some of the food prepared in our other restaurant that people can pick up from the grab and go refrigerator to bring home and just reheat. The market also offers some tables to dine in while enjoying a glass of good Italian wine and watching our pizza chef, David, performing in one of his funny shows making pizzas.

We would like to thank all our customers who have come to our restaurants in the last year and welcome all the new residents that would like to try our pizzas for the first time; this is a small family business, and we are always there to greet people and spend some time with them talking about our beloved country, Italy!
