Children who are not reading proficiently by the end of second grade face significantly greater academic challenges throughout their education. When a child struggles to read, their confidence diminishes, opportunities narrow, and the devastating effects will last a lifetime.

 

That is precisely why The Literacy Project’s dedicated mission for over 17 years is to change the trajectory of the next generation. Through our Master Teachers and The New Phonics Game, we help underserved second and third-grade students become confident readers at “no cost” to both the children and their schools. The results extend far beyond improved literacy. Students discover self-confidence, a love for learning, and the belief that they are capable of achieving their dreams.

 

On Friday, October 2, that mission comes to life at “SAVOR 2026” at Newport Beach Country Club where we will honor Erin Anderson, Kathy Simon-Abels, Ph.D., and Julie Ann & Jim Ulcickas for their professional excellence and commitment to philanthropy. Join us as they share how literacy has shaped their career and played a powerful role in their life journey.
