Teen Entrepreneurs Tackle a Messy Problem in Alexandria
Jackson Empy.
Alexandria isn’t just home to history and culture; it’s also the birthplace of a new, creative solution for pet owners. Meet Tyler and Jackson, two sophomores from Alexandria City High School, who’ve turned a common pet-owner chore into a thriving business: The Poop Brothers, a poop pick-up service dedicated to keeping local yards clean.
In a recent interview, the two local teens shared the inspiration behind their enterprise and their plans for the future.
Q: How did you come up with the idea for The Poop Brothers?
Tyler: We were approached by the founders of Poop Brothers who started a business when they were around our age and then needed to pass the business along as they moved on to college.
Jackson: We then expanded on the idea and created a new website, email address, and easier payment method. We were both really excited to get involved in owning a business and helping families with pets in our community.
Q: How does your service work?
Jackson: It’s straightforward. Pet owners can visit our website, thepoopbrothers.com, to schedule a visit. We have a regular weekly service.

Tyler: We show up, clean up, and leave the yard spotless and the gate locked. It’s hassle-free for our customers and great for their pets.
Q: What’s been the response from the community?
Tyler: It’s been amazing! People love the convenience, and they like supporting local teens who are working hard.
