RUN! GEEK! RUN! Announces The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria as 2026 Beneficiary

Annual Alexandria 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run Aims to Beat Last Year's Record Donation of $48,800

RUN! GEEK! RUN!, Alexandria’s annual 5K race and 1 mile fun run, is excited to announce its new beneficiary for the 2026 race: The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria (SFA). The 19th annual RUN! GEEK! RUN! race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 27, 2026.
The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria is dedicated to helping academically qualified students with financial need from Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) afford and complete a postsecondary education, providing essential resources and four-year renewable scholarships.
“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria this year,” said Rita Foss, Race Director for RUN! GEEK! RUN! “RUN! GEEK! RUN! is committed to supporting our local community, and the SFA’s mission of making college accessible for every deserving student is deeply inspiring. Last year, we were honored to present our beneficiary, Senior Services of Alexandria, with more than $48,000. Our goal for the 2026 race is to rally the community and our sponsors to beat that number and make an even greater impact for the students supported by the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria.”
For The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria, the partnership provides a significant opportunity to further their mission.
“We are so incredibly excited and grateful to have been selected as the beneficiary for RUN! GEEK! RUN!’s 2026 event,” said Jasmine Milone, Executive Director of The Scholarship Fund of Alexandria. “This partnership will provide a great benefit for our mission, allowing us to award additional, essential, postsecondary scholarships. Every dollar raised directly supports ACPS students in realizing their dreams of higher education, and we look forward to cheering on every runner and ‘geek’ on September 27th!”
The 5K race will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, starting at 8:30 a.m. in Alexandria, VA. Registration, sponsorship, and volunteer information are available at www.rungeekrun.org.
