A Heart for Service, A Future in Healthcare: Taylor Burk’s Journey

It’s official: the class of 2025 has graduated! After years of hard work, late nights, endless support, and true perseverance, these students are now alumni and will soon begin the next big chapter of their lives. This moment is very bittersweet, since many of us will miss these seniors, yet we are beyond excited to see them accomplish all their goals. It’s only fair to give tribute to one of Fair Oaks Ranch’s accomplished seniors: Taylor Burk.
Taylor and her family originally lived in San Antonio for a few years after she was born, then they moved to Fair Oaks Ranch about 15 years ago and have lived here ever since. She loves both the community and location of Fair Oaks Ranch, since close relatives and many of her friends live in the city. Taylor says, “I have had the opportunity to live across the street from my grandparents most of my time here, which made it even more special!” Sweet friends, supportive family, and countless memories have marked Taylor’s time in the community and her high school journey.
Taylor attended Champion High School for 4 years and participated in many extracurriculars such as girls basketball, National Honors Society (NHS), Kendall County Women’s Shelter Young Hearts program, and the Boerne Chapter of National Charity League (NCL). Needless to say, this young woman has truly grown to be a well-rounded, involved, caring, and talented individual.
One of the ways Taylor was able to be involved in the community, even before her high school years, was through NCL. She served with NCL for 6 years and one of her favorite philanthropies was volunteering at the Franklin Park Senior Center in Boerne. Taylor says, “NCL gave me some of my closest friends and strengthened my relationship with my mom. I am so grateful to have been a part of this organization!” NCL’s mission is to develop strong women leaders who will impact the community in a positive way; this could not be more true of Taylor. Through sports, NCL, NHS, and other clubs on Champion’s campus, Taylor has shown great leadership and initiative.
These attributes will only continue to serve Taylor in the future. She will be attending Baylor University in the fall, focusing on Health Science studies, in order to pursue something in the healthcare field. Volunteering with Kendall County Women’s Shelter (and many other philanthropies) really opened her heart to caring for others, and she wants to act on that passion through healthcare.
Of course, while Taylor is thrilled to be starting college soon, leaving Fair Oaks Ranch is a bit sentimental. She says, “I’m excited to meet new people and start to learn and live on my own, but it’s going to be so hard leaving my family and best friends who made high school so memorable.” Any family with a graduate knows both the pain of a child leaving and the joy of watching a young adult spread their wings. Taylor remarks that without her faith, leaving high school and starting college would not be possible: “My faith is most important to me, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without it!” Even though she’ll be in college come August, I’m sure Taylor will visit friends and family often.
Thank you, class of 2025, for everything you add to the community of Fair Oaks Ranch. We wish you all the best, wherever life takes you. Remember how valued you are, and how far you’ve come!
