Life Is Better with Murphy The Housley Family’s Beloved Terrier
Best co-pilot around!
Toby, Logan and their 17-year-old son, Tanner, share their home with a West Highland Terrier named Murphy, who is almost two years old. They brought Murphy home in July 2024 after falling in love with him the moment they saw him. Logan said her husband immediately knew Murphy was the perfect dog for their family, and they have been best friends ever since. Murphy quickly became an important part of their lives, bringing happiness, comfort, and laughter to everyone around him. From the day he arrived, Murphy has made their house feel more complete, and his playful personality has created many special memories for the whole family.
Murphy has a daily routine that keeps everyone on their toes. His day usually starts very early when he wakes Logan between 5 and 6 a.m. because he needs to go outside. He enjoys taking his time, sniffing around before finally choosing the perfect spot. As soon as he finishes, he is ready for breakfast and lets everyone know he is hungry. After eating, Murphy settles into one of his favorite jobs. He sits on an ottoman by the front window, watching the neighborhood like a guard dog. He keeps an eye on rabbits, squirrels, dog walkers, and joggers, making sure nothing unusual happens near his house. When he is not watching outside, Murphy enjoys relaxing in the sun on the patio or chewing on a frozen pup cup treat. Even though his life seems pretty easy, he takes his responsibilities very seriously.
One of Murphy’s best qualities is how friendly he is with everyone he meets. He loves meeting new people and making friends with other dogs. Kids and adults in the neighborhood are always happy to see him because of his cheerful attitude and endless energy. Murphy especially enjoys playing tug-of-war and roughhousing with his best dog friend, Wookiee. Whether he is playing outside or greeting someone on a walk, Murphy always finds a way to make people smile.
Murphy is also a source of comfort during difficult times. While Toby was going through cancer treatments, Murphy stayed by his side, giving him comfort when he needed it most. Sometimes a loyal pet can make a difficult situation feel a little easier, and Murphy did exactly that. His love and companionship helped the family through one of the toughest times in their lives. The Housleys believe they could never repay Murphy for everything he has given them because he has shown them unconditional love every day.
To the Housley family, Murphy is not just a pet but a true member of the family and an important reason their home is filled with happiness, hope, and love.
