At just 17 years old, Columbia River High School senior Claire Young is already leaving a meaningful mark on her school and the surrounding community. A dedicated leader and active volunteer, she is deeply committed to creating positive change and bringing people together.

One of Claire’s proudest accomplishments has been organizing her school’s very first Unified Dance, an event designed to create an inclusive, welcoming space where students with special needs and their peers could connect, celebrate, and simply enjoy a night of fun together. Watching classmates come together in such a meaningful way made the experience especially rewarding.

Leadership is a central part of her high school journey. As a varsity cheerleader for the past two years, she has embraced the role of energizing and uniting her school community. Claire also serves as president of the National Honor Society, leading a group of more than 100 members. Under her guidance, the club organizes monthly cleanup projects at local elementary and middle schools, encouraging students to give back. The strong participation at each event reflects both her dedication and her ability to inspire others.

In addition, she contributes as secretary of the school’s Red Cross club, helping coordinate blood drives and service initiatives. Through this work, she has witnessed the generosity of her peers and the impact of collective effort.

Having lived in Felida for the past several years, Claire values the close-knit feel of the community. The connections between schools and the familiar faces around town have played an important role in shaping her high school experience.

Looking ahead, she plans to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she will major in biology and pursue a career in healthcare. With a strong passion for helping others and a proven track record of leadership, her future is full of promise.

At home, Claire is supported by her parents, Traci and Paul, and her younger sister, Chloe, who also attends Columbia River High School. Their encouragement has been a steady foundation throughout her journey.
