The McCreary Family
Loving Coronado Beach Life
Highschool sweethearts Meagan and Mike McCreery made their dream of Coronado living come true in October of 2023. The beach has always been Meagan and Mike’s favorite place, so they always knew they wanted to live by the ocean. Meagan and Mike grew up going to Stinson Beach in the Bay Area, and that is where Mike proposed to Meagan in 2017. Traveling between the Bay Area and Tucson during college, Meagan always had a layover in San Diego. Whenever she would land and takeoff, she would look out the window and think how one day she hoped Mike and her could live in San Diego.
Immediately after graduation, Meagan and Mike moved to San Diego—their dream! They lived in Pacific Beach for ten years. They got married at the Immaculata at the University of San Diego and had their reception at Coasterra. Meagan and Mike have always loved coming over to Coronado and their next dream was to have a family and live in Coronado. They made it happen in October of 2023 with their baby Shane! The McCreerys celebrated Shane’s first birthday here and they look forward to watching him grow up in Coronado. They love how Coronado has so much history and tradition, how kids ride their bikes to school, and the tight-knit, family-oriented community. They also love how patriotic Coronado is and they enjoy seeing all the American Flags when they are up on Orange Ave honoring their country.
Meagan and Mike are both from the Bay Area and attended Carondelet and De La Salle high schools. Even though they went to separate colleges about as far as possible (Tucson to Baltimore), they stayed together. Meagan attended the University of Arizona and majored in Marketing and Sports Management. Meagan previously worked for the San Diego Padres, which she loved, and is currently a stay-at-home Mom for Shane, which she also loves. Mike attended John Hopkins University and majored in Public Health and played Water Polo. Mike is the co-founder of a tech-enabled BPO company, XtendOps.
Shane was born on October 6, 2022. He is the happiest, friendliest little guy with the biggest smile. He has endless energy and will only take a brief nap if he is being pushed in his stroller—so you will most likely see Meagan and Shane walking around town daily. He already loves sports and can often be seen throwing or kicking a ball. His dad is hoping for a Water Polo future! Although the McCreerys don’t have any pets, Shane absolutely loves dogs. He calls them “Woof Woofs.” He loves looking out the window to see any Woof Woofs that walk by, and even puts his stuffed animals in the window to show them. Even more so, he loves to be in the front yard or on a walk so that he can say hi to everyone that walks by and see the Woof Woofs up close.
Around Coronado, you will most likely find the McCreerys at the beach, as they are there all the time. Shane absolutely loves to run down to the water, climb up the sand dunes, chase the seagulls, and collect shells. The beach is their favorite place. They also spend a lot of time at Sunset Park—Shane always wants to get out of his stroller and run across the grass to the play structure. Every weekend the McCreerys walk all over the island, but they always start at Clayton’s to get coffee for Meagan and Mike and glazed donut holes for Shane. He gets so excited when he sees the donuts in the window. They love to go to The Del to sit on the lawn while Shane runs around and listen to Gonzo on the weekends. Fun fact: Gonzo did Shane’s gender reveal for their family by singing “Beautiful Boy.” Meagan and Mike also love a good Happy Hour—sitting on the patio at McP’s is one of their favorites. They look forward to and always have so much fun at the 4th of July Parade, Concerts in the Park, and the Christmas Parade!
If you see the McCreerys walking around, make sure to say hi! They love meeting new people and always want to get more involved in the Coronado Community.
