The story begins with Jess Gephart, whose passion for helping people feel and look their best ignited over 25 years ago, following her graduation from Palmyra High School and Cosmetology school in Lebanon. Her training extended at the Matrix Academy in NYC, becoming a certified Matrix colorist.

     What started as a modest local salon in Palmyra in 2014 blossomed into a warm, welcoming space where clients are encouraged to express themselves freely, confidently, and comfortably. In 2022, Jess seized the opportunity to move into an iconic building on Chocolate Avenue, instantly recognizing how the location, community, and ambiance would transform her business.

     At Renew Salon, excellence in customer service and a homelike atmosphere are more than promises—they’re the foundation. Many clients describe their appointments as feeling like a visit to a friend’s cozy living room. Jess’s team operates as a sisterhood, united by their love of quality service, premium products, and a shared mission to nurture confidence.

     But the salon’s impact extends beyond hair styling. Jess and her team believe in nurturing identity and self-expression, collaborating closely with clients to ensure their desires are met. The spirit of generosity runs deep, with Renew Salon regularly donating hair services and products to local fundraisers supporting schools, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Jess’s philosophy is simple yet profound: supporting local businesses and helping raise money truly makes the world go around.

     One of the biggest challenges the salon faced was during 2020. The pandemic brought its share of obstacles, from temporary closures to new safety regulations. Yet, these difficulties only strengthened Renew Salon’s purpose. The team adapted swiftly, introducing flexible scheduling, enhanced sanitation, and more personalized one-on-one appointments to ensure every client felt safe and cared for. The experience was a powerful reminder that the salon is not just a place for beauty, it’s a haven for connection, healing, and confidence.

Thanks to the unwavering support of loyal clients and the broader Hershey community, Renew Salon emerged from adversity stronger, more compassionate, and more committed than ever to creating a welcoming environment. This November, the salon celebrated 11 years of operation; a testament to Jess’s vision and resilience.
