Joyful Art Reshapes the Way We Live

There’s something powerful that happens when art doesn’t just fill a wall, but it tells a story, sparks emotion, and quietly reshapes how a home is lived in. That was exactly the case for Lola and Joe, a La Grange couple who discovered my work in a way I love most, through real homes, real stories, and shared connection.
After spotting my art in a friend’s home and again at the 2025 Fall Winning with Wyatt Annual Fundraiser, where my husband and I shared our daughter’s story of bravery and resilience, Lola and Joe felt an immediate pull.  Not just to the colorful art, but to the joy it carried. For Lola, a pediatric nurse, the connection to a cause that supports pediatric brain and spinal tumor research made her decision to step into the studio even more meaningful. A portion of proceeds from my BrAvery collection is donated in honor of our daughter’s journey.
Their first selected piece, Play Through the Storm, was love at first sight.  Lola instantly envisioned it in their cozy basement living space. “When Lizzie told me the name of the piece, it was a done deal.” The piece’s message about finding light even in hard seasons struck a deeply personal chord, as they had worked through a few storms of their own in recent years.
From there, they invited more joy into their main level with an original artwork from my Bright Spots collection in a chunky vintage frame for above the fireplace, and a 6-piece Joyful Connections gallery wall that greets you the moment you step into the front door.
What I love most about their story is what happened after. They now gravitate toward the rooms filled with art – spending more time reading, listening to vinyl, and simply being together. The pieces invite pause, reflection and even inspiration, as they’ve begun to take playful risks with color and pattern throughout their home.
“We loved our home, but Joe had always wanted to bring in more color. I was a little hesitant, worried it might feel too busy. Lizzie’s art struck the perfect balance – it added color and interest without overwhelming the space. Now, our home feels more joyful, complete and welcoming. We feel incredibly proud to have these pieces in our home — supporting a cause dear to our hearts, owning one-of-a-kind works no one else has, and creating an environment filled with warmth and joy.”
