Embracing New Horizons

La Grange Neighbors and Newcomers Welcomes the Empty Nesters

La Grange Neighbors and Newcomers (LGNN), a thriving and all-embracing community organization, has recently unveiled an exciting addition to its array of engaging activities: the Empty Nesters group. Tailored exclusively for women who are currently navigating the transformation of becoming empty nesters or those who embrace a life without children at home, this new group has rapidly gained traction due to its distinctive fusion of camaraderie, entertainment, and personal enrichment.

Gathering monthly, the spectrum of activities offered by the Empty Nesters group mirrors the diverse interests of its members. Ranging from refined tequila tastings that acquaint participants with the art of savoring exquisite spirits, to convivial group dinners at La Grange's premier dining establishments, and even imaginative workshops on floral arrangement that enable members to explore their artistic inclinations, the group guarantees an offering for every individual.

"We recognized a need within LGNN to offer something specifically for this demographic, and it has been a wonderful addition to the community, and personally in my life,” says Lisa Coronado, co-chair and one of the founders of the Empty Nesters Group.

Co-chair Josie Giovannelli, also a founding pillar of the group, shares her elation, stating, "Our aim was to shape a sanctuary where women can flourish and enjoy this fresh chapter of life. It's heartening to witness the bonds being woven from sharing experiences with kindred spirits."

As La Grange Neighbors and Newcomers continues to foster a robust sense of community, the Empty Nesters Woman's Group stands as a radiant testament to their steadfast dedication to providing opportunities for women to unite, commemorate life, and bolster one another throughout all junctures of their journey.

LGNN and Empty Nester member Rebecca Robinson's heartfelt endorsement captures the spirit of the Empty Nesters: "The women of the Empty Nesters are the best!  Warm, empathetic, sharing, fun.  At our age the artifice is gone, only the joy and true emotions remain.  I look forward to our gatherings every month."

Reflecting on her experience, member Dawn Cimino states,  "When I realized Empty Nesters was not just for those LGNN members with older or adult children out of the house, but also those who never had kids, I decided to attend an event. I discovered a wonderful, welcoming group of women in similar stages of life as me. I feel comfortable to be myself and openly discuss personal topics, like our aging parents and even my own medical concerns. But beyond that, the Empty Nesters are so creative in planning and holding the most fun events, from Valentine's Day fondue to Cinco de Mayo tequila tasting. I absolutely love sharing these unique experiences with this fun, friendly group of women!"
