Honey

The Dog Days of Summer are here! This month we had the opportunity to connect with Courtney Davis about her adorable pup Honey.

Tell us about Honey became a part of your family:  I had always wanted a dog but was always very busy, so during COVID I thought "Why not foster a pup!?" I searched for a good fit and found Honey in a bottom, corner cage curled in a ball with no nameplate at the Fort Worth Animal Shelter. We had a meet and greet, she was so sweet and had just had puppies. So, I decided to foster her, but within 24 hours I knew I couldn't live without her. She changed my life. We became best friends and did everything together. We laid outside and enjoyed the sun during COVID, went on walks together, snuggled on the couch every night and she helped me slow down and enjoy life. She is the perfect match for me...and it was as though we were just waiting for each other!

How did you come up with the name Honey?  I picked Honey because of her color and she is the sweetest dog you will ever meet! Her tail wags nonstop when she sees someone and she loves all of the rubs (especially belly rubs, she will literally roll over when you bend down to pet her)

What's something special or unusual about Honey? Honey has SO many quirks, which makes her so special! My mom, Grandma Pom Pom, says that she is an extremely silly and spoiled dog. She loves to tuck her snout in pillows and blankets when she is tired, she snarls her lips up and shows her teeth (she grins) when she is excited and happy to see you, and she is surprisingly athletic for her odd/medium-sized body. Also, Honey has very vivid doggy dreams....she growls and barks while she is sleeping!

What do you like best about Honey? I love how even-tempered and snuggly Honey is! She is very soft...she has velvet ears and silky fur!

What are Honey's favorite toys & activities? Honey's favorite toy is Mr. Koala. She has several Mr. Koala toys - some have passed away (aka the stuffing and squeaker came out). She loves to toss Mr. Koala in the air and snuggle with him. Honey's favorite things to do are eat and hide her bones and sun in her backyard.
She also loves to chase the squirrels in the backyard. One time she caught one! She was just standing over it so proud of herself and we had no clue what to do!

What else should we know about your pet? Honey is very popular in the neighborhood. She has several doggy friends that she enjoys seeing on her walks each day! She also deserves a huge thank you, she spends her days monitoring Leaside from the comfort of her bed in the guest room. She accepts thank you in the form of Whimzee bones.
