Sparkling Success: 9th Annual Light Up the Highlands Illuminates Community Spirit

On November 26th, the highly anticipated 9th Annual Light Up the Highlands event was once again hosted by the Lake Highlands Junior Women's League. Thousands of Lake Highlands residents showed up for the event filled with hours of family fun including kids' crafts, multiple bounce houses, hot chocolate, a snow luge, a 360 photo booth, face painting, ice skating, a Christmas vendor market, including 13 local small businesses, and of course, photos with Santa.

In the spirit of giving back, the Reverse Food Truck, an outreach of NorthPark Presbyterian Church, collected donations for those who are food insecure in the community. Lake Highlands residents supported the Reverse Food Truck by donating non-perishables.

For the second year in a row, there was a raffle to earn Fast Pass sashes which allowed winners to skip the lines at all activities. New this year, the Lake Highlands Junior Women's League put together four additional raffles that included the chance to win 2 Southwest Airline round trip flights, a weekend stay in Broken Bow for 8, Christmas light installation services provided by Elf Lighting, and a Highland Park Carriage ride for 6. These two raffles generated thousands of dollars which will help fund some of the community efforts that the Lake Highlands Junior Women's League plans to complete this year.

Performances by Lake Highlands High School Highlandettes, Wranglers and Espree and LH Dance Academy provided energy and excitement throughout the event which commenced after the 22-foot Christmas tree lit up the sky.

The event would never be as wonderful as it is without the help of the generous sponsors including Camp Ozark, The BAR Group, First Baptist Dallas, Summerhill Pools, Luck Family Foundation, Mai Plumbing, Children's Dentistry of North Dallas, Barking Hound, Lookout Apt, White Rock Cheer, Hollywood Feed, and C&C Exteriors.
