Embracing Lake Highlands: Meet the Vibrant Cannarella Family

This December we round out 2023 with the dynamic Cannarella family – a family team with professional accomplishments, youthful energy, and the warmth of furry companionship. Let’s embark on a journey to get to know this vibrant family, their journey from metropolis to Lake Highlands, and the traditions that bind them.

The Cannarella Clan's Lineup:
  • Kurt (Dad): The creative force, navigating the world of advertising with a flair for self-employment.
  • Lauren (Mom): Bringing the advertising world to life in her work at an ad agency.
  • Chloe: The spirited 3-year-old, already exploring the realms of tumbling and dance at St. James.
  • Camille: The 8-month-old bundle of joy, embracing the adventure of growing up.
  • Barkley: A lively 6-year-old, adding his own dash of energy to the family.
  • Stella aka Meow Meow: The feline matriarch, aged 14, a steadfast companion since the college days.
From Metropolis to Lake Highlands: Lauren, hailing from the sunshine state of Florida (a proud USF graduate), found her way to the bustling streets of NYC post-college, working at an ad agency. Meanwhile, Kurt, a New Jersey native, commuted to another city ad agency. Fate intervened, and their paths converged through mutual industry connections at a serendipitous event. After four eventful years in the Big Apple, the couple, fueled by a desire for a more relaxed lifestyle, decided to relocate. Choosing Dallas as their new abode, they settled in Lake Highlands over seven years ago, finding the perfect home in the summer of 2018.

For the Cannarellas, being together is a cherished tradition. Staying active, exploring new places, and nurturing a love for travel are integral parts of their family fabric. From early tumbling classes for Chole to sailing lessons for Kurt, the family thrives on diverse activities. Lauren, the culinary maestro, is passing on her skills to Chloe. The family's love for staying active extends to their favorite neighborhood park, the White Rock Elementary Playground.
While not currently involved in organized community groups, Lauren is contemplating joining the Lake Highlands Women's League next year. Having been part of the Junior League of Dallas before parenthood, she recognizes the value of community engagement. Sharing love not just within the family but beyond, their preferred local charity is Habitat for Humanity Restore.

What captivates the Cannarellas about Lake Highlands is its cozy ambiance. Driving through the neighborhood, they felt an unmistakable sense of belonging – envisioning a future where their kids would frolic with friends along the streets. The walkable park and the homely atmosphere sealed the deal.

For new families venturing into Lake Highlands, the Cannarellas recommend a simple yet effective mantra – get out and walk. It's the easiest way to break the ice and forge connections with your neighbors.

As they navigate through life in Lake Highlands, the Cannarellas look forward to expanding not just their professional horizons but also their community connections. For now, they relish the joy of watching their kids grow in a community that feels like an extended family, "We love the home-y feel that it has. When we were looking, we drove into this area and knew it was the place we needed to be. You can just envision yourself having kids here and them running around the streets with neighborhood friends."
