The White Rock Newcomers Club
Join us for Friendship, Fun, and Fulfillment in Lake Highlands
The White Rock Newcomers Club was started back on May 29, 1958 by a group of Lake Highlands’ mothers and women to meet new people and expand their horizons. For the last 65 years, members have enjoyed long-lasting relationships due to this Club at their meetings on the first Tuesday of the month.
The Club has its own by-laws, which can be revised as needed, with the purpose of the Club to promote social, intellectual and nonpolitical interest of members through appropriate programs and activities and to provide an annual gift to a non-profit organization. The club has earned the status of a non-profit organization with the IRS. Membership is opened to women who reside in Dallas County or any adjoining counties.
The programs are one of the main features of the club. Past entertainment has included a concert pianist, a talk by Susie Humphries, an Elvis impersonator, book reviews, singers, a magician who made a diamond ring disappear before our eyes, Patriot Paws, and too many more to mention.
A typical meeting is opened by our President at 10:00 am, which is followed by a brief introduction of our performer or speaker. The programs last 45 minutes and is then followed by a brief break. A business meeting is held with the participation of all officers and Standing Committee chairwomen. Then the real fun begins with a raffle of items donated by the members and the business community. Currently, we have thirteen sponsors. Next comes a scrumptious meal provided by the Dallas Athletic Club. Meals include drinks and wonderful desserts. After lunch members can elect to play bridge, games or simply go home.
We would love to have you bring your friends and join us. You can visit and see the action for yourself before deciding to become a member. Membership dues are currently only $50 a year! Meals are currently $30. For more information, please contact Cindy Gilley at 214-348-1629 or Jayne Davenport at 214-725-9401.
