Celebrating Independence Day with the Eldridges
Since 2017, Dustin and Alli have called Lake Highlands home. Prior to their life in Dallas, Dustin grew up in upstate New York, while Alli was on the East Coast of Florida. Both decided to attend the University of South Florida but did not meet until Alli's final semester at school right before she had planned to move back home.
As the saying goes, the rest is history! After falling in love in Tampa, Florida, they decided to make the move to Dallas in 2014 after Dustin received offers from financial firms located here and in Nashville. "I was convinced we were going to end up in Nashville, but one trip to DFW later, and we were sold on making Dallas home. Fun fact: We moved halfway across the country, both started new jobs and flew back to FL for our wedding — all in a span of less than 6 months!"
Today they couldn't imagine setting their roots anywhere else. Dustin is the Founder of TEAM Private Wealth Management, a multi-family office exclusively for NFL players, and the Director of Family Office Services at Waterloo Capital, a multi-family office for ultra-high-net-worth entrepreneurs.
Alli is a senior communications manager at a Fortune 500 company and the author of Caring for Kingsley: Believing In a Better Way When Canine Cancer Comes Crashing Into Your World. (Which we previously have spotlighted, but can't wait to share again!)
Last year, Harris, now 10 months old, joined their family and has a special place in their hearts not only as their son, but as an ode to Alli's family. Harris is her maiden name and is synonymous with a vibrant, fun-loving family that made memories together assembling for the holidays or taking the boat out on the lake. "Each year, we convened for the Fourth of July at my uncle’s house in north Georgia and watched the fireworks from his back deck overlooking the mountains. In a period of several years, my family lost this uncle (in his 50s), as well as my cousin (in her 30s), followed soon thereafter by the matriarch of our family, my grandmother. All were gone too soon, and the Harris family was not what it once was; however, the memories of our days all together would live on forever. Harris represents the best of each family member, and as the first Harris grandchild of our generation, we look to him to ensure our family’s legacy lasts a lifetime."
Dustin and Alli are looking forward to starting new family traditions with Harris as he grows up, and plan to include him in their nightly reflection where they each say three things they are grateful for from the day and one thing they appreciate about one another. They also love going for walks around the neighborhood, joking that what used to be "workout walks" have now turned into leisurely strolls with the baby and their dog, Boone.
"Our favorite part is how walkable the entire area is. This was truly one of the things that sold us on Lake Highlands. When we have family or friends visit, they always comment on how much they love to walk in our neighborhood with all of the amazing tree coverage we have." They encourage everyone to get you and walk around your neighborhood to "feel the sense of community Lake Highlands is known for.”
Giving back to their community is something that Alli and Dustin also want to teach Harris. Alli is a member of the Junior League of Dallas, where she has held several leadership roles over the years. Her favorite placement is Women LEAD, which provides scholarships to high school seniors following a speech competition.
Dustin is a Board Member at C5 Foundation of Texas, a non-profit with a 5-year program teaching underprivileged youth the leadership skills necessary to help them be the first in their family to go to college. He is also a Board Member of the USF Center for Entrepreneurship, one of the 10 best Entrepreneurship programs in the country.
In addition to traveling back to Florida often, the Eldridges love to get away to experience other parts of the country, including Steamboat Springs, Colorado, a small town Alli discovered with her family when she was growing up. They have been back as newlyweds and with friends, and said they “can’t wait to watch Harris skiing down some of our favorite runs one day in the very near future!”
