Date Night Beauty Edit with Deanna Boyd

After 30 years of being a makeup artist, Valentine's Day is still one of the top days my clients want to look & feel their best. Whether for date night, a Galentine's gathering, or simply wanting to get glammed, here are some easy-to-do looks and tips to inspire you!

Skin, skin, skin...no matter how much makeup you apply, your makeup will only look as good as the skin underneath. Make sure your skin looks its best by prepping the skin for makeup. Using a primer like MILK's Hydro Grip (oily skin) or Beautycounter’s Glow First Priming Serum (normal, normal to dry skin) helps makeup last longer and look fresh throughout the night.

Try doing an eye mask to help with puffiness, and refresh the under eye. I like DRMTLGY'S Brightening Eye Masks or Acure Radically Rejuvenating Under Eye Hydrogels. Apply them an hour before your makeup application.

Set your gorgeous work with a makeup setting spray; I like Glam Guard from Lawless for normal to oily skin and Maya Chia’s - The Optimist Hydrating Essence on normal to dry skin.

Soft Natural Looking Lips w/Eye Makeup Done Two Ways:
On Whitney, I did a graphic eye using black liquid eyeliner and lined the top & bottom waterline with a black eye pencil. I added flashes with lots of mascara. Cheeks are enhanced with a soft peach and tie the look all together with a matching lip.

On Sherri, I kept her eyes natural with a bronzey-gold eye look, then tight-lined black liquid eyeliner. On her cheeks, a warm apricot cream blush topped off with a warm-peachy pink lip gloss.

Just Keep it Natural:
On Melissa, I created a natural soft smokey eye (the most asked-for eye look I get on the daily) using a taupe and medium-toned grey eyeshadow with a touch of pink on her lips and cheeks. Perfection!

Go For Bold Lips w/Two Eye Looks:
A fiery red, a hot pink, or deep plum, it doesn't matter...a bold lip will always be a playful, confident choice! Pair that bold lip with a natural or sexy smokey eye is entirely up to you! Pro-tip: Apply bold lipstick first, then apply blush. You will notice that you'll need just a tad more blush for balance.

On Celeste, I softly defined her eyes and used a gorgeous fuschia-plum color on her lips.

On Katherine, I went with a little more drama on the eyes, then chose the perfect blue-red for her lips.
