Taylor Lewis Shines: Three-Time 3A TAPPS State Tennis Champion Reflects on Her Journey

For the third consecutive year, Taylor Lewis, Class of 2024, clinched the gold medal at the TAPPS State Tennis Tournament with a dominating performance. As she prepares to embark on a new chapter at the University of Florida - Gainesville next fall, Taylor took a moment this spring to reflect on the significance of her State Championships and her time at Lakehill.

Taylor is a standout student-athlete at Lakehill, known for her dedication and versatility across multiple sports. Her passion for tennis ignited at a young age, and she began her competitive career at just 12 years old. For the past few years, Taylor has honed her skills at Brookhaven Tennis Academy under the guidance of Dave Anderson.

Over the last few seasons, Taylor's exceptional talent has left coaches and athletes in awe as she triumphed match after match, advancing through district tournaments to dominate the State Tournament. This final high school season was eagerly anticipated by all.

“It is so much fun to be part of the team at Lakehill,” Taylor said, beaming with pride. She cherished watching her teammates compete for the first time, facing athletes from various schools, and, most importantly, representing her school. “You know, I won for the school, not just for myself,” she emphasized.

“Taylor is one of those student-athletes who continually makes the athletic department proud,” said Jhoana Cayme-Mosley, Athletic Director. “Taylor not only competes on the court but also excels in the classroom. She is a role model for our youngest Warriors.” When asked for advice for younger student-athletes, Taylor shared, “Don’t be afraid to lose. Losing is a learning experience.”

Congratulations to Taylor Lewis, TAPPS State Tennis Champion 2022, 2023, and 2024! Your dedication and achievements have made our Lakewood community proud.
