Kicking Off Change: Empowering Dallas Youth Through Sports

Meet the Passionate Founders Behind Kickoff Sports Dallas and Their Mission to Equip and Inspire Young Athletes


Founded by a group of passionate East Dallas high school students, Kickoff Sports Dallas is making a significant impact in the community, one athlete at a time. With a mission to provide underprivileged youth with access to sports equipment and services, this non-profit organization has been serving the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the past four years. The boys all wear multiple hats and change up responsibilities, we got a chance to catch up with them and learn a little more about these co-founders and what their current focus is within the organization and their why for being involved.  

Max Jensen: Co-founder and Webmaster
Max Jensen, has been dedicated to the organization since the beginning. His responsibilities include managing the website, handling social media accounts, and actively participating in volunteer events. Max spends an average of four hours per week volunteering and encourages others to get involved by visiting the organization's website. Max's family has a long history of volunteering, particularly in assisting new refugees settling in Dallas.

Calvin Lewis: Co-founder and Community Outreach Coordinator
Calvin Lewis has been involved with Kickoff Sports Dallas for four years, serving underprivileged communities by providing sports equipment and organizing sports camps. He spends 2-6 hours per week volunteering, communicating with non-profit organizations to coordinate distribution events and sports camps. Calvin invites others to get involved by visiting the organization's website or contacting them via email.

Zachary Lewis: Co-founder and Social Media Manager
Zachary Lewis, has been actively engaged with the organization for the past four years. In addition to running the Kickoff Sports Facebook page, Zachary participates in various volunteer activities, including sports summer camps and equipment donations. He dedicates 2-5 hours per week to volunteering and encourages others to join their cause.

Zachary Strong: Co-founder and  
Zachary Strong brings a genuine passion for community service and sports to Kickoff Sports Dallas. With a love for soccer and a desire to make a difference, Zachary is committed to ensuring that every child has access to the same opportunities he enjoyed growing up. His dedication to empowering young athletes is evident in his active involvement in the organization's initiatives.

Will Maya: Co-founder and Nonprofit Liaison 
Will Maya's commitment to community service spans four years, during which he has actively participated in various sporting events organized by Kickoff Sports Dallas. From camps to sports drives and donations, Will plays a pivotal role in empowering Dallas youth through sports, his current focus is connecting with nonprofit organizations to set up opportunities for their group to distribute equipment and host sports camps. With a passion for baseball and a heart for helping others, Will is eager to make a difference in the lives of young athletes.

Kickoff Sports Dallas has achieved significant milestones over the years, including donating over 5,000 new and reused sports balls, shoes, and apparel, hosting 40+ camps and clinics for underprivileged children, and partnering with 20+ non-profit organizations throughout Texas. Through their collective efforts, Max, Calvin, Zach, Zachary, Will, and their team are making a positive difference in the lives of young athletes and empowering communities through sports.
