Meet Nelson: The Adorably Quirky Doberman-Lab Mix

Interview with Nelson, Lakewood’s Lovable Canine Resident

Q: Nelson, can you tell us a little bit about where you came from and why your family chose you?
Nelson: Woof! I was rescued from East Lake Pet Orphanage because my family wanted some new energy in the house. Their other dog was getting older, and I guess they thought I’d be a fun addition. Plus, I was rescued by Dr. Nelson on the side of the road when I was just three months old, so I feel pretty special.

Q: Is there a story behind your name?
Nelson: Oh, absolutely! I’m named after the amazing Dr. Nelson who saved me. It’s a name I carry with a lot of pride – woof woof!

Q: Do you have any special talents or quirky behaviors?
Nelson: Well, I’m a bit of a conundrum. I’m super smart and can nail an entire agility course in my sleep. But I also bark at my own reflection and can’t quite figure out how to scratch my ear properly. I guess you could say I’m a mix of brains and silliness!

Q: What do you like best about your family?
Nelson: I love their loving nature! Every time they come home, I’m right there at the door, tail wagging and my favorite toy in my mouth, ready to greet them with all the excitement I can muster.

Q: Speaking of toys, what’s your favorite toy and thing to do?
Nelson: My absolute favorite toy is this old rubber orange S-shaped toy. My family got it for just 25 cents at a neighbor’s garage sale on my very first day with them. It’s been my go-to toy ever since – it’s my first and favorite, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
