The First Inaugural Lakewood Pickleball Tournament hit Lakewood this past Spring. It’s no secret that Lakewood is the big dill, now the sport sweeping the nation has officially hit Lakewood, and for a good cause! This sold out event raised over $6,000 for local schools.

 

64 Lakewood pickleball players & 11 host families teamed up for a tournament of 32-two player teams on Saturday, March 23rd at Samuell Grand Tennis Center. In true Lakewood style, teams were dressed to impress, topped off with a coveted Lakewood Pickleball Tournament hat – limited to only those playing or hosting. 

 

The winners of the first-ever Lakewood Pickleball tournament were Joseph & Emily Hildebrand. 

 

This tournament is a new addition to the offering of many popular parties available for purchase at the annual Lakewood Early Childhood PTA auction party in November. Also known as “sign-up parties”, these adult-only events are hosted by local families, 100% of ticket proceeds goes to LECPTA. LECPTA has supported not only Lakewood Elementary, but also Woodrow Wilson feeder pattern schools for decades.

 

Pickle-themed fun was had on and off the court for players of all levels. The host families had a blast creating décor, snacks, and bevvies – while using endless pickle puns during the planning process.
