LECPTA Donates $442,500 at Founder's Day Luncheon

The 2024 Founder’s Day Luncheon was one to remember!  Past and present LECPTA members gathered at Lakewood Country Club to celebrate Honorary Lifetime Members and Past LECPTA Presidents who have made incredible contributions to this organization, and therefore our community.

Congratulations to Kiley White and Alex Fergus, who received 2024’s Honorary Lifetime Member Awards, which is one of the highest forms of recognition from PTA. It was a privilege to recognize their outstanding service and dedication and salute them as role models for all women and future generations.

Next, we had the privilege of getting to know three of the PTA presidents that receive proceeds from the LECPTA each year. The panel moderated by Shannon Stuart included: Julie Griffith (Lakewood Elementary), Leigh Maples (J.L. Long Middle School) and Pennie Marshall (Woodrow Wilson High School).

As its grand finale, the LECPTA proudly distributed a record-breaking $442,500, including $200,000 to Lakewood Elementary, $100,000 to J.L. Long Middle School, $100,000 to Woodrow Wilson High School and $10,000 each to Auburn, Lipscomb, Oran Roberts, and Geneva Heights, four additional elementary schools in our feeder pattern.

The funds go towards school-specific wish list items (e.g.: partnerships with the Dallas Arboretum, updated art in school hallways and classrooms, school supplies and books), scholarships for students based on need (e.g.: purchasing cap and gowns for graduating seniors) as well as community initiatives such as the Woodrow Community Peace Pantry.

We are so grateful to members of the 2023-2024 LECPTA Board whose work and commitment to community made these distributions possible. Further, we would like to thank all of the sponsors and auction donors of the 2023 The Future Is Here Lakewood Auction Party and 47th Annual Lakewood Home Tour for your support, which made this possible.

Lastly, thank you to Past President Skylar Champion of the Skylar Champion Group who graciously sponsored this year’s Founder’s Day, and to our fantastic Adult Events committee who planned it. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!

"Planning the Auction Party opened my eyes to the passion and power of Lakewood. I saw the immense talent and creativity of over sixty women on our committee, the generosity of hundreds of donors, and the enthusiasm of more than 600 attendees who came together for a night of fun and fundraising, all working to build a strong community for our children. It was an incredible experience and I’m so grateful to live in this neighborhood." - Jacki Pavlick, Vice President of the 2023 Auction Party.
