Meet Mason: A Multi-Talented Second Grader Who Rocks!

Mason Askenase, a 7-year-old second-grader at Lakewood Elementary, is already making a name for himself with his diverse interests and enthusiasm for life. Whether he's excelling in sports or dreaming up creative projects, Mason embodies the energy and curiosity that make childhood so special.

What do you like to do outside of school?
I love staying active! I’m part of the swim team, and I also do ASI Ninja and play baseball. Each sport challenges me in different ways, and I enjoy every minute of it.

Is there someone you admire?
Yes, my first-grade teacher, Ms. Corban. She’s the nicest teacher I’ve ever had and made school really fun. She had a reward system where we could earn cool things with good behavior. One time, I got to have lunch with a buddy from a different class—how awesome is that?

Tell us something unique about you:
I’m left-handed, which is pretty cool. It makes me feel unique, especially when I’m drawing or writing.

When I grow up, I want to be...
An artist! I love expressing myself through drawing and creating things.

My Favorite Things:
Animal: Meerkats—they’re fascinating! I finally got to see one in real life this summer.
Color: Red
To Watch: Inside Out 2—I saw it this summer with Ms. Corban!
To Eat: Burgers, hands down!
To Go: Colorado in the summer, it’s beautiful and full of adventures.
School Subject: Math
Sports Teams: Olympic swimming, Philadelphia Eagles
Summertime Fun: Riding my bike around White Rock Lake

Mason’s infectious enthusiasm, combined with his wide range of interests, makes him a standout in his community. As he continues to grow and explore his passions, there's no doubt that Mason will achieve great things, both in and out of the classroom. Keep shining, Mason!
