Meet Coco the Corgi
Meet Coco, an 8-month-old female Pembroke Welsh Corgi who has quickly captured the hearts of everyone in her Mercer Island neighborhood with her personality.
A Lifelong Connection to the Neighborhood
Coco’s family has deep roots in the Puget Sound area, having grown up on Mercer Island and living around the region all their lives. Eight years ago, they moved back to MI just before their daughter started kindergarten. "We love the community, neighborhoods, and proximity to everything nature has to offer," they shared.
Coco’s Arrival and Her Unique Charm
Coco joined the family in February 2024 when she was just 8 weeks old. The family had been looking for the perfect addition to their home, and after being introduced to the breed by their friends, the Wheelers, who own a Corgi named Penny, they fell in love with Corgis. They connected with the same breeder in Utah and were thrilled to be first in line for the litter that Coco came from. "We knew she was our girl just a few hours after she was born," they recalled.
Coco is a tri-color fluffy Pembroke Welsh Corgi, a breed known for its intelligence, athleticism, and agility. Unlike many Corgis, Coco has her full, fluffy tail, which her family adores. “We love her fluffy fox tail with the white tip!” they exclaimed. Her tail, always wagging, is a signature feature that adds to her already charming personality.
A Name That Fits Perfectly
Coco’s name was chosen even before she was born, thanks to the creativity of the family’s daughter. They believe the name suits her perfectly, especially with her tri-color coat. Coco’s bright and cheerful demeanor matches her name.
Coco’s Unique Traits and Talents
One of Coco’s standout traits is her joyful spirit. “Coco is always happy and wagging her fluffy tail!” her family says. She’s incredibly friendly with all humans and dogs, no matter their size. Coco also has a distinctive way of walking, a characteristic known among Corgis.
Coco has some amusing habits, including her unique sleeping positions. “She sleeps in the oddest of positions and makes all sorts of funny noises,” her family shared. One of her favorite moves is the “sploot,” a Corgi classic where she stretches out with her legs splayed behind her.
Favorite Toys, Treats, and Memories
Coco is a typical Corgi when it comes to her love for food. “She loves anything edible, or inedible,” her family laughs. There’s no need to worry about Coco not finishing her meals—she’s always ready for more!
Among the many memories Coco’s family cherishes, their favorite is the day they met her. “She was so small, so happy, and innocent,” they recall fondly. That day marked the beginning of a joyful journey with Coco, who has continued to bring endless happiness to their lives. Her tail hasn’t stopped wagging since that first day.
Coco’s Neighborhood Adventures
Coco loves exploring her neighborhood and making new friends. She particularly enjoys playing with bigger dogs and having friends over to play in her backyard. Her best friend is Rosie, a patient playmate who often joins Coco for fun and games.
While Coco hasn’t visited Luther Burbank Park yet, her family is excited to take her there. She has already enjoyed a trip to Mud Bay, where she loved all the sights and smells. They’ve heard that All the Best has yummy treats, and they plan to take Coco there next.
Dream Adventures and Local Recommendations
If Coco could choose her perfect adventure, it would be an endless field of long grass with plenty of four-legged friends to play with—or an endless bowl of food!
Finally, Coco’s family would like to give a shout-out to their next-door neighbors, Barbara and Eli Lahav. The Lahavs, who have a passion for Middle Eastern Cuisine Catering services, have been a blessing to Coco’s family, often sharing delicious leftovers. Barbara and Eli are one of a kind, and Coco’s family feels incredibly fortunate to have them as neighbors.
Coco has undoubtedly made her mark as a beloved member of her family and the Mercer Island community. With her joyful spirit and endless energy, Coco is a Corgi who brings smiles wherever she goes.
