Blackberry Sunset
Ingredients
2 oz Vodka – Local WA DryFly Huckleberry Vodka recommended!
¾ oz Blackberry basil simple syrup
½ oz Lemon
2 dashes of Fee Brothers Rhubarb Bitters
Lemon twist
Shaken or stirred, strain and serve up for the spirit-forward option. Or, build in the glass with ice and soda water for a sparkling refreshment.
Looking for a mocktail option? Hold the vodka and bitters and enjoy this as an elevated sparkling lemonade. Best enjoyed on a bright, sun-soaked day!
Blackberry Basil Simple Syrup
1 pint of blackberries (fresh or frozen)
2 large sprigs of fresh basil
2 cups water
2 cups white sugar
- In a saucepan, heat water and blackberries on medium heat for 15 minutes or until the berries lose color and fall apart.
- Strain and return the blackberry-infused water to the pan with the fresh basil.
- Heat on a low simmer for 10 minutes. For a stronger basil flavor, continue cooking for an additional 10 minutes.
- Remove basil and add the sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Cool, bottle, and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
