Local Football Teams Unite for "Stuff the Bus for Kids" Event

The Everett Public Schools Foundation would like to give huge thanks the community for making this year's Stuff The Bus event a success. Over 133 volunteers helped deliver 3,113 supply-stuffed backpacks to local schools.

Jennifer Black, EPS Board Treasurer, gave a special shoutout to the local football teams from Everett, Cascade, and Jackson high schools for their support. "Each year they show up to unload the three school buses filled with supplies donated over the weekend. They may be rivals on the field, but they come together for the community. They are an amazing group of young men!"

Superintendent Ian Saltzman expressed his gratitude to the entire community for their generous donations of school supplies, corporate and personal cash contributions, and the volunteers who helped solicit donations and pack and deliver backpacks to schools. The goal of the "Stuff the Bus" event is to provide 3,000 backpacks to students and families each fall, ensuring they have the necessary tools to succeed in the upcoming school year.

Saltzman gave special thanks to the Everett, Cascade, and Jackson football teams for their assistance with the heavy lifting. "It’s great to see what we can accomplish when we work together," he remarked, reflecting the spirit of collaboration that made the event a success.

"This annual tradition highlights how rivals can unite for the greater good of the community." added Kay Fantin, Executive Director of the Everett Public Schools Foundation.

The event was a great success with all 3100 backpacks being distributed to schools, however the need in the district is great. They would like to be able to keep a few hundred in reserve as needs arise throughout the school year.
