Experience Momentum Helps Clients Redefine What's Possible

Experience Momentum was born in 2007, when Shanon Tysland, Experience Momentum founder and Physical Therapist, realized more people needed support in redefining what was possible in their health and their lives. What started as a single brick-and-mortar location has transformed into three fully integrated healthcare and fitness centers in Lynnwood, Fremont, and Mill Creek that support clients in creating a life that inspires them.

In 2013, the company went all in to acknowledge the connection between people's health and the planet's health by joining 1% for the Planet and becoming the first and only B Corp Certified clinic of our kind in the nation (2018). To date, Experience Momentum has donated over $350,000 to environmental nonprofits and remains actively involved in our Puget Sound community through volunteering and partnering efforts. This year the company reached new heights by joining The Conservation Alliance and becoming Climate Neutral.

Today, Experience Momentum is still locally owned and operated and boasts an incredibly talented team of 80+ expert professionals. The team is committed to treating the whole person and addressing the whole planet, not because it’s easy but because it’s important.

So, what will you experience when you walk through the front doors or pick up the phone to start your health journey with Experience Momentum? Past and current clients would say, "You will find trust, connection, new inspiration, and possibility." When residents Alisa and Joe
Craig-Shtromberg and their 11-year-old son Logan decided to give Experience Momentum a chance, they found themselves faced with the opportunity to redefine what’s possible in their lives both as individuals and as a family.

The Craig-Shtrombergs have a deep-rooted love for skiing and outdoor activities, so it was no surprise that when Alisa started to experience chronic health issues and pain, it was impacting more than just her physical well-being. Alisa explains, “Joe loves hiking and biking, and I was struggling to keep up with him to be able to do that. Meanwhile, my kids were starting to do it, too, so I kind of hit a low point physically, mentally, in all ways. It was a breaking point to really want to do something about it and take control of my body.” This kick-started Alisa’s journey to get her life back. Finding herself unsuccessful and frustrated by the traditional healthcare system, Alisa set out to find something that would give her back the life she knew she could have.

“Experience Momentum has been able to support every aspect of my health journey. With a holistic approach to everything, they have people who truly understand the body and who approach everything with empathy. It's not dismissive," she explains. "I have continued to have setbacks, but my recovery times have gone down each time. I went from having a two-week recovery to a week recovery to a two-day recovery period. Just seeing those positive changes speaks to how incredible Experience Momentum is in terms of their approach.” Alisa adds, “When Joe started to see positive changes, he told me maybe he will try it too.”

Joe reflects, “I came to Experience Momentum as a hiker/biker/runner with endurance to be ahead of the pack. I was humbled by the lack of attention I was giving to my upper body, both strength and mobility. At 43, I had never done squats with any efficient form, I had neglected all overhead strength exercises, and I couldn’t clean a bar without feeling completely awkward. The trainers adapted my workouts so I can improve these skills.”

Both Alisa and Joe were gaining traction in their health journeys when their 11-year-old son Logan begged his parents to let him come to the gym with them. Logan is on the U12 White Pass Ski Team where he competes in races as an athlete, so when he asked his parents to do CrossFit there was hesitation. After getting approval from Logan’s ski coaches and talking with Experience Momentum’s trainers, Logan took his first CrossFit class and hasn’t looked back. He says, “Whenever I go into the workout, there's just a little voice in the back of my head that says you can do it, you can keep going. And then I realize that voice isn't from me, it's from my coaches and everyone that's there. They're all sending these little messages; you can do it. You got this!  And every second that I am there, I feel like I will.”

Experience Momentum exists so that you can create a life that inspires you, and the Craig-Shtrombergs have found this for themselves. As Alisa exclaims, “This has kickstarted the lifestyle that we have always wanted!”
