A Stronger Life
It isn’t uncommon to see Danny and Indree Moonesinghe out on a walk with their daughter, greeting neighbors and enjoying the weather. Having recently moved to Mill Creek, they were drawn to the city’s strong schools and welcoming community, deciding this was the right place to put down roots and raise their family. Just as important to them was finding a lifestyle centered on balance, movement, and long-term wellbeing. Over time, health and wellness became guiding principles. It’s helped them navigate challenges, strengthen their relationship, and shape the kind of life they want to build together. For Danny and Indree, wellness is about remaining present, connected, and fully engaged in their family and community.
Indree and Danny met in Los Angeles, where they quickly bonded over their shared values, including an intentional approach to health and fitness. Their relationship was built around shared routines and a similar outlook on life. During the COVID pandemic, those values became even more important. Like many people, they reflected more deeply on health, balance, and the importance of being close to family and community. With Danny’s family already living in Washington, the couple decided to leave LA and start a new chapter in Seattle. After getting married and learning they were expecting a child, they began searching for a place that felt better suited for family life than the pace of a larger city. They wanted a community that felt safe and connected while still supporting the lifestyle they valued. In Mill Creek, they found an environment that reflected many of the priorities that had guided them from the beginning.
Danny’s dedication to health and wellness began through sports growing up, but his relationship with fitness took on a deeper meaning nearly nine years ago when he became sober and began recovery. During that period, exercise became more than a physical activity. It gave him structure, discipline, and a healthy outlet at a time when he needed stability and something he could control. While he appreciated the physical results, Danny said: “The physical benefits were nice, but the mental benefits were better.” The consistency and sense of purpose fitness provided became an important part of his recovery journey and gradually shaped the way he approached everyday life. Wanting to share that experience with others, Danny began helping friends, family, and others in recovery develop their own relationship with fitness. Over time, his support evolved into a deeper passion for training and mentorship, leading him to pursue certifications and specialties that would eventually help turn that passion into a career.
Indree had long maintained an active lifestyle and understood the role health and wellness play in long-term quality of life. Over time, this lifestyle came to represent balance, energy, and feeling grounded in everyday life. Pregnancy deepened that awareness, reinforcing how closely physical and mental wellbeing are connected and how much small daily habits can affect a person’s overall sense of stability. Having grown up in Los Angeles, Indree also valued the sense of connection that can come from everyday interactions and shared community spaces. In Mill Creek, neighborhood walks became more than just a form of exercise. They offered opportunities to slow down, improve her mood, and build relationships with the people around her. “Everybody is really friendly and family oriented,” she said. “Everyone says ‘Hi’ when you’re walking and makes an effort.” That welcoming atmosphere helped reinforce the balanced and community-oriented lifestyle the couple hoped to create for their daughter.
Their move allowed them both to further shape the lifestyle they had been building together. For Danny, that meant turning his long-standing passion for fitness and mentorship into Lift Lab LLC, a Mill Creek-based personal training business centered around sustainable wellness and helping people build healthier routines at their own pace. For Indree, it meant finding a balance between movement, family life, and community in an environment that encouraged all three. Together, they found that Mill Creek offered the kind of setting they had been searching for: a scenic and welcoming community where slower moments, neighborhood connections, and intentional living felt easier to prioritize. As new parents navigating career changes and family life, the city provided both the stability and sense of connection they hoped to find.
Their pursuit of health was never simply about appearance or achieving perfection. Instead, it became a way to build the kind of life they wanted for themselves and their family. Those shared values ultimately led them to Mill Creek, where they found a community that felt like the right fit for the life they wanted to build.
Today, they continue to shape a life centered not on rigid ideas of wellness, but on feeling well enough to fully participate in the family, relationships, and community they value most.
