Town Leadership
Hello fellow Moraga residents!
I’m pleased to have the opportunity to share a few thoughts on public service in our town. While many of our lives are consumed by careers, families, or other commitments, I encourage you to consider expanding your involvement in our community.
Moraga’s limited tax base allows for only the leanest government services, so our town has always relied heavily on volunteers. Many residents serve on commissions/committees such as Planning, Parks & Rec, Audit-Finance, etc. While some experience can be helpful, what truly matters is common sense and a collaborative spirit.
There’s also the opportunity to run for Town Council. In the last two elections, several candidates—including myself—ran unopposed. While that has resulted in strong council members (if I do say so myself :)), a little competition would benefit the role and our town in the long run.
For those who don’t see themselves in government roles, there are many other ways to get involved. Local orgs such as Kiwanis, Lions, and Rotary support charitable causes and community projects (full disclosure—I’m a proud Kiwanis member). Groups such as the Moraga Chamber of Commerce, Moraga Community Foundation, Moraga Parks Foundation, and others - all play important roles in strengthening our town.
Together, these organizations contribute to the vibrancy of Moraga. Please consider this a gentle nudge to explore where you might want to get involved. These efforts are vital to our community, and participation can be both rewarding and fun.
Please join us in helping make Moraga better every day.
Warm regards,
Brian Dolan
