You Were Made for This
Something quiet has been happening across our neighborhoods. People are more connected than ever — texts, notifications, feeds — yet many of us feel something is missing. Researchers call it a loneliness epidemic. Most of us just call it a regular Tuesday.
We weren't designed for isolation. We were made for something more textured than a screen can offer like the weight of a hand on a shoulder, a shared meal, laughter that spreads through a room before anyone knows why. We are, at our core, creatures who need one another.
At Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church (LOPC), we believe one of the most countercultural things a person can do today is simply show up — to a table, a living room, a conversation. Our Community Groups gather people from across Lamorinda around shared interests and honest questions, building real community over time. These aren't programs. They're people choosing to know and be known.
We're also hosting our annual Fall Fest on Sunday, October 4. No agenda beyond a free, family-friendly gathering with food (free tacos!), fun, and unhurried time together.
If you've been feeling the weight of going it alone, we'd love to welcome you. There's a place for you at LOPC.
