1630 Hair Artisans: Two Decades of Excellence and Innovation
Twenty years ago, Christine became the owner of 1630 Hair Artisans, realizing a dream that was years in the making. Having worked at the salon for seven years prior, Christine's deep-rooted connection to the community made the leap to ownership in 2003 a natural progression. Growing up locally, she has always been dedicated to serving her hometown with the highest standards of hair care and customer service.
Since its inception, 1630 Hair Artisans has seen significant transformations. A recent remodel has refreshed the space, creating a modern and welcoming environment for clients. One of the most notable changes has been the introduction of the Green Circle recycling program. Through this initiative, the salon recycles all hair, foils, and leftover products, ensuring nothing ends up in a landfill. The recycled hair can be used to soak up oil spills and create bioplastics, such as combs. Foils are repurposed into bicycle frames, and leftover color products are processed to reclaim water and manage chemicals responsibly, keeping the water table safe.
The salon boasts a talented team of eight hairdressers and a dedicated front desk person. They offer a comprehensive range of services, excluding only hair extensions. Clients can choose from a variety of high-quality products, including R+Co, R+Co Bleu, Kevin Murphy, Moroccan Oil, and Brazilian Blowout treatments.
Christine and her team excel in a suite of color techniques, from highlights and solid colors to fashion colors, balayage, and foiling. They also offer perms and are highly skilled in haircuts. Commitment to continuous education ensures that they are always up to date with the latest fashion trends and tried-and-true methods.
Currently, natural curls are making a comeback, with many clients opting to embrace their natural texture instead of straightening their hair. This trend underscores the salon's ability to adapt and meet the evolving preferences of their clientele.
On a personal note, Christine has been married to Randy since 2009. They live in the Renton/Newcastle area, in the house where Randy grew up. Christine has two stepdaughters; one, Logan, works at the salon, and the other, Jessica, has three children, making Christine a proud grandmother. Weekends often find Christine and Randy in Westport, enjoying the ocean, fishing, crabbing, and clam digging.
Coming from a large family with five sisters and two brothers, Christine's passion for hair began early. As the first middle child, she frequently did her family’s hair and continues to do so. Her mother visits the salon every Friday for a shampoo and blow-dry, highlighting the strong family ties that remain central to Christine's life.
Born in Newport Hills near Cloud 9 Hamburgers, Christine's life and career are deeply intertwined with the local area. 1630 Hair Artisans is more than just a salon; it’s a community fixture where style meets sustainability. As Christine celebrates 20 years of success, her commitment to exceptional service and positive environmental impact remains unwavering.
