Happy August Oakdale
August, with its long, sun-soaked days and warm, starry nights, is a month that perfectly represents the spirit of the cowgirl.
As we soak in the fading warmth of late summer, life urges us to live in the moment. I am so happy and grateful to live in Oakdale, California, because the warm nights here are incredibly soothing and perfect for spending time outdoors. To me the beautiful clouds that paint the sky add a touch of magic to every day, making even the simplest moments feel special. I cherish the strong sense of community in Oakdale and am deeply thankful for the fantastic friends I have made. Each day brings the opportunity to meet new people, and I look forward to forming more meaningful connections.
Here is a tip of my hat to Oakdale roots... Whether or not the hard-working residents of Oakdale still wear cowboy hats, the spirit of the cowboy is alive and well. Cowboys and girls are known for their strength, independence, and connection to the land, and August's hot, demanding days only highlight their tenacity and passion for the cowboy way of life. In August, we find time to enjoy the beauty and serenity of nature. After a day of hard work, we might gather around a campfire, reading Greet Oakdale and sharing stories and songs under the vast, open sky. This month offers us a unique blend of hard labor and moments of tranquility, reinforcing our deep sense of community. Whether through mentoring younger generations, taking the family to events in town, or simply taking a quiet moment to appreciate a stunning Oakdale sunset, August is a time when the cowboy spirit truly shines.
My favorite aspect of Oakdale is the people, and I recently came across this quote that reminded me of why I love to live here.
"Surround yourself with people...
With people that loosen their cinch and pat their horse when they get off.
With people that put the grocery store cart back and hold the door open with a smile.
With people who might throw their hat under your horse but will also go catch 'em if you don't stick it.
With people that will keep a slot empty in the trailer for your horse and a seat empty at the table for you.
With people that tip the waitress and their hat at others.
With people that show their colts and kids a soft but firm hand.
With people that push you for success but also sit with you in your failures.
With people that open their Bibles, hearts and homes.
You can only be as good as your company so be careful whose house you hang your hat up"
