Brittany Mathews Finds Joy in the Little Things at Sconza Chocolates
She proves that a positive attitude, integrity, and a little laughter can make every workday a little sweeter.
For nearly four years, Brittany Mathews has welcomed customers and supported her team as a Customer Service Representative at Sconza Chocolates. While delicious chocolate is certainly a perk of the job, she says it's the people and the everyday moments that make coming to work worthwhile.
To Brittany, being a great employee starts with showing up each day with a positive attitude and a willingness to adapt. Whether facing an unexpected challenge or helping solve a problem, she believes flexibility and optimism go hand in hand.
"The definition changes based on the different challenges that are thrown my way," she said, "but it really boils down to having a positive attitude and being able to adapt."
Rather than pointing to one standout moment, Brittany says it's the small victories that remind her why she loves what she does. Finding a simple process improvement that saves time, sharing a cup of coffee with a coworker, or hearing from customers who love Sconza's products all add up to a rewarding workday.
The lessons she's learned at work have also shaped her life outside the office. One of the biggest is the importance of staying calm.
"It's easy to get worked up," she said, "but it doesn't change that there is a challenge that needs to be tackled."
Every day, Brittany strives to lead with integrity by being honest, keeping her promises, and earning the trust of those around her. Those qualities have helped make her a dependable teammate and someone others can count on.
Being recognized by her employer as someone who represents the best of the workplace is both meaningful and humbling.
"I'm honored," she said. "I love where I work, what I do, and the people I get to do it with. It's a nice feeling knowing that I set a good example every day and others see that."
For anyone just beginning their career, Brittany's advice is simple.
"Have fun and find the joy," she said. "There might be a lot going on, but there is always room to bring a little light and laughter."
It's a reminder that while hard work matters, bringing positivity to the workplace can leave just as lasting an impression.
