Collaboration on Tap!
Ridgefield Craft Brewing and Nest Build Community Together
Mary Fisher of The Bon Vivant Traveler with Cindy LeBeau
The partnership between Ridgefield Craft Brewing (RCB) and Nest is a perfect example of how local businesses can work together to strengthen their community while delivering exceptional experiences for customers.
RCB had already built a strong reputation through its wholesale and retail distribution channels when its owners, Steve and Ariana Dronen, unexpectedly accelerated plans to open a downtown Ridgefield taproom. When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived shortly thereafter, they adapted quickly, partnering with neighboring businesses to provide food and beverage options while continuing to serve the community.
A new chapter began in 2023 when Steve and Ariana met Scott Gix, owner of Nest. At the time, Nest was located at Carts by the Park, just a block away. Together, they created a system allowing customers at RCB to order food from Nest and have it delivered directly to the taproom. The partnership flourished, eventually leading Nest to relocate next door to RCB.
Today, the collaboration allows both businesses to align their hours and create joint promotions such as Wednesday's popular "$5 Pints & Bites," featuring craft beer from RCB and sliders from Nest. They also work together on Trivia Tuesdays and other events that bring the community together.
RCB regularly hosts local musicians without charging admission, creating opportunities for artists while providing entertainment for patrons. The brewery also collaborates with other local businesses through partnerships such as Hometown Hazy, a collaborative brew created with BevRidge Public House and available exclusively at BevRidge and RCB. RCB beer is also featured at Ridgefield Raptors games, extending the brewery's connection to the community.
That spirit of collaboration was on full display when RCB and Nest hosted Greet's Business Networking event. The gathering brought local business owners and professionals together to build relationships and learn about opportunities to support the community. Representative Marykay Lamoreaux of Ridgefield Main Street shared information about volunteer opportunities, sponsorships, and the Washington Main Street Tax Credit Incentive Program, which allows businesses to redirect a portion of their B&O taxes to support local economic development.
Attendees praised both the event and the welcoming atmosphere created by the hosts. Julie Gorham of HOA Advantage shared that she enjoyed the "friendly people and seeing associates we've worked with, great food, and a well-organized event." Wendy Kraemer of ABC Sealcoating noted that "the food was amazing and the venue was so fun and relaxed. I loved learning about the Main Street projects and how they are helping grow businesses in the community."
Hailey Smedley of Eight Cow Creamery felt the event exemplified the power of community support, saying, "It's truly the kind of thing that warms your heart and helps you remember the village around you. These are the kind of people you want to be around."
Ashlynd Harris remarked that "the atmosphere has vibrant energy, very scrumptious food, and an enjoyable space to gather. I'll be back." Julie Kastner of Phoenix Technology added, "Wonderful food and beer. Loved the lager."
Nest's catering services were featured during the event and continue to be a growing part of the business. Recently recognized with third-place honors in both the Food Truck and Catering categories in The Reflector's Best of Clark County awards, Nest and Ridgefield Craft Brewing continue to demonstrate how collaboration, quality, and community involvement create lasting success.
Together, they are doing more than serving great food and craft beer, they are helping build the relationships that make our community such a special place to live, work, and gather.
