Well into summer and event season, I’m reminded that Ridgefield Main Street could not accomplish all that we do without the support of our community, volunteers, sponsors, and partners.

Those of us who talk about Ridgefield outside our community often describe it as a place where partnerships make things possible. There are countless examples of the City of Ridgefield, Port of Ridgefield, and Ridgefield School District partnering with one another and with community organizations on projects. Resources, experience, and expertise are multiplied when shared, not lost or diminished.

This has long been a necessity in a small town. Many of the people involved are members of multiple organizations and wear various hats. It is part of the sense of belonging that characterizes our community and Downtown Ridgefield and sets us apart from other places. One of the core tenets of our Main Street program is to cherish, foster, and protect that sense of community while embracing inevitable growth.

We all enjoy and benefit from support, whether in business, community, or our personal lives. I know I appreciate help on a project from someone who knows how to do it better than I do. There was a time in my life when I would have stood alone, bravely pretending I could do anything myself. What I know today is that, with support from others, my life is richer, more dynamic, and beyond what I could have imagined on my own.

Support propels us to higher places and creates new opportunities.
