Downtown Ridgefield is full of unique businesses and surprises.  One such interesting place is The Olde Library Inn.  Kristen Riggs and Ryan Zygar operate this inviting and creative place!

 

They purchased the building in 2017 as an investment. “We weren’t certain what we were going to do, but one day we were enjoying time downtown and realized how great it would be to have a place to stay,” said Kristen.   She feels lucky to have gained experience managing vacation rentals from working with Amy Gibson (StayinMyDistrict.com).  “We remodeled the building into a place that we could share with others.”

 

The building has deep roots in the city. The Priscilla Study Group* opened the city’s first library that stayed open until the early 1990s.  To treasure the history, it was natural to name the business The Olde Library Inn ("Olde" with an “e” for character and “Inn” to identify it’s a place to stay).

 

Ryan and Kristen met while working on a real estate project.  They are in the process of building a home in downtown Ridgefield.  Together their family includes Lucas (11), London (17), and Keenan (22).  All of their family was born and raised in Clark County with family ties to Ridgefield.   Ryan’s Grandmother Burnice, “Bea,” grew up around the corner off 5th.  She enjoyed visiting the library before she graduated in 1942.  Kristen’s dad was a Spudder grad circa ’73.  “I have many memories of my dad working every summer on my Great Uncle Kenny’s farm here in Ridgefield,” said Kristen.  

                                                       

The Olde Library Inn is what they like to call a "micro-hotel."  It’s a collection of three vacation rental apartment-style suites in downtown Ridgefield.  Each suite is decorated differently based on their favorite birds found in the Wildlife Refuge. "Heron is our one-bedroom king bed apartment. Goldfinch – our cute studio apartment. Stellar Jay – our pet-friendly studio apartment.

Not only do people stay to explore, but they also provide space for wedding preparations, graduation photos, and reunions.   “It’s a wonderful business to provide a place to create memories,” said Kristen.
