Mathew Francis is the new CEO who leads Community Hospice & Health Services into its next chapter, strengthening the foundation that supports compassionate care in our community.

Mathew Francis, CEO; CHHS

Community Hospice & Health Services (CHHS) introduced Mathew Francis as President and Chief Executive Officer 18 months ago, marking a pivotal leadership transition. With more than three decades of executive experience, he brings both compassion for community-based care and the business acumen needed to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.

While non-profits serve from the heart, strong leadership and operational stability are essential to continue that service. Mr. Francis combines financial literacy, strategic thinking, and market awareness with a deep commitment to care. Under his leadership, there is a renewed sense of direction as CHHS meets growing demand and competition while staying grounded in its mission. In an industry driven by compassion, the guiding principle remains clear: without a margin, there is no mission.

At its core, CHHS continues to provide families with confidence in a hospice team that delivers compassionate care without compromise, backed by decades of trusted service.

What should we know about hospice care?
The word “hospice” often carries a heavy weight, but it doesn’t have to. Hospice care can provide families with more meaningful time together when introduced earlier. CHHS offers a full continuum of support through medical professionals, social workers, and clergy who guide patients and families through every step.

Care extends beyond the patient to the entire family. Early hospice care can reduce suffering, anxiety, and discomfort while improving quality of life. At the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, families experience a calm, home-like environment where time, clarity, and peace become possible.

CHHS also supports patients facing chronic or serious illness through advanced care management and coordination. From navigating healthcare logistics to addressing emotional and spiritual needs, patients receive comprehensive support at every stage. Services like respite care allow caregivers time to rest and regain strength, recognizing that their well-being matters too.

What’s next for CHHS?
In the months ahead, you’ll meet more of the dedicated doctors, board members, and caregivers who make CHHS such an essential part of our community. Through their stories, we hope to deepen your connection to the people behind the care.
