Winter Wine Walk
It’s amazing what a few weeks of fog and cold weather will do. After a while, you just want to get out, see neighbors, and sip something cheerful.
That’s exactly what happened when our neighborhood partner, Ivy Park Senior Living, hosted our very first Wine Walk at their beautiful Seven Oaks community.
And what a night it was.
With several nearby businesses joining in, Ivy Park turned a simple evening into something special. Guests enjoyed generous pours of wine and champagne, incredible heavy appetizers prepared by Ivy Park’s talented culinary team, and – best of all – great conversation.
But here’s the part that surprised many: while we were clinking glasses and catching up after the holidays, we were also gently exploring a topic people often avoid — senior living.
Too many of us fear even looking into care options, whether for ourselves someday or for our parents now. We imagine something outdated or dreary. What we experienced was the complete opposite.
Nearly all 60 guests toured Ivy Park’s stunning one-bedroom model apartment. The most common reaction? “This is amazing. I’m moving in tomorrow!”
This is not your old-school retirement home. Think elegant finishes, welcoming spaces, and a massive weekly calendar filled with activities, events, and social gatherings. The emphasis is clearly on living – fully and intentionally – in a vibrant community.
The evening proved something important: exploring senior living isn’t about giving something up. It can be about gaining connection, support, and a lifestyle upgrade – almost like a cruise ship… without the seasickness.
If you missed the Wine Walk, don’t wait until next year. Call Ivy Park at 661.404.7401 and ask for Ailey Foster. She’ll be happy to give you a personal tour!
And be sure to tell her David sent you.
