health and home care business.
Now, they are expanding their reach with the launch of the Purpose Driven Foundation,
a nonprofit that focuses on empowering Seniors and enhancing lives in Bakersfield and
the surrounding areas. “From the very beginning, philanthropy was part of our vision,”
Katrinna shares. “It has been 12 years since we started our business, and we have
always known that we wanted to give back to the community in a meaningful way. Two
years ago, we were finally ready to turn that vision into a reality!”

A Purpose-Driven Mission
The Purpose Driven Foundation aims to address the gaps in support for Seniors by
providing essential services and resources. One of its flagship initiatives, the Equip for
Life Program, loans durable medical equipment to seniors without cost. Items such as
wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and hospital beds are collected, sanitized, and repaired to
be reused—helping seniors maintain mobility and independence.

“We really saw there is a need in dealing with Seniors in the community,” Katrinna
explains. Seniors need medical equipment that might not be covered by insurance, or
they might not have the money to afford wheelchairs, hospital beds, shower chairs, and
so forth. By loaning equipment, she can ensure these resources are available to those
who need them most, regardless of socioeconomic status.”

The foundation also focuses on sustainability by repurposing gently used durable
medical equipment. “In our research, we discovered that two million tons of medical
waste is produced each year. Our goal is to reuse each item up to six times, reducing
environmental impact; all while serving the community.”

Dignity Through Essentials
In addition to medical equipment, the foundation distributes Senior Essentials Hygiene
Kits on the first Thursday of every month. These kits include items that support daily
hygiene and health, helping Seniors maintain their dignity and confidence. “We have
learned that small gestures can make a huge difference,” Katrinna points out. “These
kits are a simple; yet impactful way to show Seniors that they are cared for and valued.”

To kickstart their mission, the Purpose Driven Foundation participated in a Holiday Block
Party at Seven Oaks, where they introduced a Giving Tree initiative. Community
members scanned QR codes on holiday ornaments to access the foundation’s Amazon
