Houchin Community Blood Bank – at their Seven Oaks Business Park offices – marked their 75th anniversary recently with a press conference and ribbon-cutting, celebrating both their rich history and forward-looking vision.
Founded in 1951 on the principle of community-driven care, Houchin has grown significantly while staying true to its lifesaving mission. Leaders honored the thousands of lives impacted over the decades and emphasized the organization’s continued commitment to serving Kern County.
Looking ahead, CEO Jonathan Bautista shared plans to expand Houchin’s role in advanced medical support, including participation in innovative treatments like CAR T-cell therapy and the development of pre-hospital transfusion programs with local emergency services. These efforts aim to improve access to critical care locally, reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region.
The event also highlighted Houchin’s designation as a Blue Zones-approved worksite, reinforcing its commitment to community health. Overall, the celebration reflected a legacy of compassion and a future focused on innovation and expanded care.
Cheers to 75 more years, Houchin!
